EXAMINING Challenge Points and Choices
Janet and Jeannie might not have decided on the program in the best way. Their decisions were not based on case studies of other programs and they did not consult with others. Linking Agents inevitably encounter resistance to change on the road to innovation. People affected by change are typically uneasy about the change process itself.
It is certainly true around Eagle Elementary School. If Janet, our stalwart change agent, gains insight on why folks may balk, she is more likely to figure out just how to help them change their minds.
But Janet shouldnt stop at moving resistance roadblocks out of the way.
She wont meet success unless she looks at other threats to and opportunities for change. In the EXAMINING stage of innovation planning, she must develop foresight.
Janet must take a hard look at trends, events and other factors in the environment around her. Then she must make judgements about possible impacts they might have on her plans.
In the EXAMINING exercise, there are Challenge Points. As in other parts of this case study, each presents you with four sets of response options.
After reading the first three choices, pick the one that sounds best to you. If none exactly hit the mark, please jot down on your own notepad what you would doand select Choice D.
Of course you can refer to the narrative, Scene 3 Insight Informs Action, or the Tutorial at any time. After you click on an answer you can read what experts chose.
