What external resources can Janet tap?

Choice A
After the disheartening surprise of the teachers’ meeting, Janet should do some research. She may want to contact a state or national organization or review current literature. This course of action will give her some alternatives to consider.

Choice B
No kidding, Janet’s best bet is to go to the president of the local Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Aldrich always has lent a helping hand to Eagle Elementary. Maybe he can come up with the cash to get this program off the ground. If the program could pay participating teachers a small stipend, maybe some of Eagle’s faculty would buy in. It wouldn’t have to be the first group of teachers she called together.

Choice C
Janet can’t muster external resources until she has enough of a critical mass inside the district to carry the ball.

Choice D
Why these choices? None of these statements is accurate.

What external resources can Janet tap?

You Chose A
We think this is a wise course of action for Janet. She should have done so before the meeting in Elaine’s office. Now, after the meeting, more than ever she needs to do her homework and build support in her school. She may or may not have already lost this round, but there’s a whole career ahead of her—chock full of opportunities to make needed education change happen.

You Chose B
The idea of paying participating teachers a stipend is a good incentive for their buy-in. So is arranging with a local college to offer continuing education credits—credits that help earn teachers salary increases in Jefferson County School District. However, neither tactic has the intrinsic strength needed for damage control. It will take more than stipends or continuing education credits to rescue this project from where the teachers left it—off the table.

You Chose C
We agree.

Choice D
So, what do you suggest?
