You will find that PROMOTE SUCCESS falls in stages 6, 7, and 1

You're now at the brink of completing your on-line Linking Agent training. This module focuses on how to promote the success of your efforts. Certainly we want you to gain credit for your work – but we also want others to learn from your experience.

This module will help you identify the best communication processes for reaching important "target audiences," including those in and out of the school community. You'll also spend some time thinking about how the process of promoting your work can help you evaluate it as well. Time permitting, you should consider different ways to possibly promote the school or school district's activities.

PROMOTING THE SUCCESS OF YOUR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ACTIVITIES

As you know, school systems work best when information flows freely between the individuals and groups who are empowered by using it for effective problem-solving. A specific district may benefit from the internal and external publicity that is generated following the implementation of an innovative program. Internally, within a district, the likelihood that improvements will endure over the long run is increased when people are convinced of their worth.

Internally, Linking Agents can use a variety of communication tools to promote success, including newsletters, articles in employee publications, presentations at staff meetings and Intranet web sites. The more information people have, the better decisions they'll make about adopting initiatives that improve students' lives.

Externally, the recognition that your programs are working can be a powerful motivator. Acknowledgement by parents, community and business leaders, and professional colleagues can enhance professional esteem and personal affirmation. In the end, everyone benefits when you turn your experiences into models for others in the field.

Let’s explore 4 of the avenues for publicizing your work:

  • Written Presentations
  • Oral Presentations
  • Person-to-Person Contacts
  • Television/Radio
