Tina
joined the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in June 2000 as
a Research Associate, and now works as a Research Analyst. Since
coming AIR, she has worked on the Research to Practice, Technology
Dissemination and Networking, Technology Research Support, Policy
Assessments and other related communication task orders for OSEP.
Her current responsibilities include serving as a technical assistance
liaison for the Elementary and Middle Schools Technical Assistance
Center (EMSTAC) and a task leader for the National Center for Technology
Innovation (NCTI). As a technical assistance liaison, she is responsible
for developing training modules and follow-up materials for consumers,
conducting recruitment visits to local school districts, developing
products for educators, designing and evaluating an on-line training
web site, and researching information for Linking Agents. In addition
to working on the EMSTAC project, Tina is responsible for supporting
a variety of research projects for the Office of Special Education
Programs (OSEP).
Prior
to joining AIR, she spent three years with Fairfax County Public
Schools as a special education teacher. During each of her three
years, she gained a wide variety of experiences in assessment, individualized
instruction, behavioral analysis, and inclusive practices. In her
last year with Fairfax County, she served as a school-based resource
teacher responsible for coordinating special education service delivery
and facilitating inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities.
She served as the Chairperson for her school's Local Screening Committee
and was responsible for administering educational evaluations to
students in her school. In this position, she also gained experience
developing a master schedule, conducting needs assessments, and
planning staff development opportunities.
Tina
obtained her Master's degree in special education from Old Dominion
University in December 1999. She is a member of the Council for
Exceptional Children and recently presented at their 2002 Convention.
