Phoebe Farag joined the American Institutes for Research as a Research Assistant in August 2000. Currently, she is working on the Elementary and Middle Schools Technical Assistance Center and the Philadelphia High School Citywide Proficiency Examination for Literature.

Prior to joining AIR, Phoebe taught 12th grade English Literature at A. Philip Randolph High School in Harlem, NY. She has also worked as a classroom assistant for a 7th and 8th grade Spanish/English bilingual class at Booker T. Washington Middle School in East Harlem, NY. She has worked as an editorial/publications assistant at the Office of the Vice President for Student Services at Columbia University and served as managing editor of the University publication FACETS: Facts About Columbia Essential to Students.

Phoebe volunteers for Coptic Orphans, a U.S. based non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating the suffering of orphaned children in Egypt. She has also volunteered for the DC Rape Crisis Center as a hotline counselor and hospital advocate. She has traveled to Egypt, Kenya, and Tanzania.

Phoebe received her B.A. from Columbia University in 2000 and her provisional teaching certification for secondary school from the State of New York in 2000. She is currently in an M.A. program in International Education Development at the George Washington University.
