Miriam Gerver joined the Elementary and Middle Schools Technical Assistance Center (EMSTAC) in September of 1999 as a Research Assistant and currently works as a Research Associate. A major emphasis of Miriam's work includes maintaining and updating the website; developing web pages for educational professionals; coordinating and moderating a listserv; serving on a product review team to improve the clarity, usability, and accessibility of the EMSTAC website; conducting literature reviews; synthesizing research findings; providing research support to other members of the staff by collecting and delivering information; conducting site visits and collecting data at various school districts across the country; assisting with conferences and meetings by preparing and organizing materials; proofreading and providing editorial comments on various documents.

Miriam has worked with children in a number of research, mental health, and school settings over the past seven years. Prior to joining AIR, she worked at the Center for Evaluation and Research with Children and Adolescents at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. In this position she assisted with instrument development, data collection and entry, and administrative duties for the Head Start Simmons Child and Family Progress study. In 1998, while studying in Israel for the year, she provided support for a family by playing and talking with their eight-year-old son who lost his sister in a terrorist bus bombing. She also assisted at a preschool for developmentally delayed children. While in college, she served as a Program Aide at Perkins School for the Blind where she assisted adolescent students who had been diagnosed with various behavioral, mental, and emotional disorders.

Miriam received her BA from Brandeis University in 1999 in Psychology with a minor in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies.
