Lydia Killos, currently a Research Analyst, joined AIR in 1998 as a Research Associate. A major emphasis of Lydia's work has involved programs and policies regarding the education of children with disabilities and their families. She serves as a Technical Assistance Liaison for EMSTAC in the Frederick County, Maryland School District. Lydia worked on many OSEP projects, including: Technical Support for the Department of Education's Technology, Educational Media, and Materials (TMM) for Individuals with Disabilities Program. Lydia assisted in the authorship of final reports and provided responses to quick-turnaround information requests. Other projects include: the Policy Assessment Task, Technical Support for the Department of Education's Initiative to Link Research and Practice to Improve Results for Individuals with Disabilities, and Communications Task, Technical Support for the Department of Education's Initiative to Link Research and Practice to Improve Results for Individuals with Disabilities which supported the development, communication, access, and use of research to improve practices, programs, and policies to educate infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities, and their families.

Based upon her experience working to promote inclusive practice for children with disabilities, Lydia was asked to serve on the School District of Philadelphia curriculum and assessment development project as a Special Education representative. Her role is to evaluate and recommend assessment instruments which allow for necessary accommodations for students with learning disabilities.

Lydia is a Certified School Counselor, and worked as an Elementary School Counselor in Atlanta, Georgia while completing her M.Ed. in School Counseling at Georgia State University. Lydia also spent several years working for the Georgia Council on Child Abuse (GCCA), as a Family Assessment Worker. She met with teenage parents immediately postpartum, to discuss plans for the new baby as well as parenting skills. Lydia conducted a clinical assessment to determine family risk factors, and helped connect needy parents with the GCCA Healthy Families Home Visitor Program.
