Eric Mesmer is currently a Research Analyst with AIR. He joined EMSTAC in July 1998. Eric serves as a Technical Assistance Liaison and program evaluator for EMSTAC. In fulfilling these roles, he is primarily engaged in school consultation activities, coordination of technical assistance, identification of research-based programs and practices, and design and implementation of EMSTAC's evaluation plan. Eric is presently working with three school districts to identify solutions and provide support in the areas of reading instruction and school-wide discipline.

Eric has been extensively involved in planning and implementing data collection procedures and methods to evaluate the impact of EMSTAC activities in participating school districts. Eric's research and professional interests include emotional and behavioral disorders, school-wide discipline and classroom management, intervention-based service delivery systems, and functional assessment.

Eric is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist with experience working in several districts/states. While working in the schools, Eric conducted psycho-educational evaluations and functional assessments, and worked directly with students, teachers, and parents in the design, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral and ecological interventions. Eric co-designed a program for educating high school students with behavioral and emotional disabilities in general education settings, and he was responsible for designing procedures to re-integrate elementary students who were being served in an alternative education program.

Eric has a Master's of Arts/Certificate of Advanced Study from Appalachian State University in School Psychology. He recently completed an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology at the University of South Florida and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. His dissertation examines teacher behavior and inclusion practices for students with behavioral disorders.
