Judy
Shanley is currently a Senior Research Analyst with AIR and primarily
works on the EMSTAC project. She has been employed at AIR since
November 1998. Her primary responsibilities include synthesizing
research related to special education issues and developing and
disseminating products and informational materials based on this
research. Judy worked with a technology vendor to develop an interactive
web-based training site. This site is used to assess distance education
methodologies as a training modality to bring research-based practices
to local school systems around the country.
Judy
developed recruitment and marketing materials for prospective EMSTAC
Linking Agents and is actively involved in developing the comprehensive
Linking Agent training program. Her professional interests include
product development, marketing, and information dissemination, and
she continues to be an active member of The Council for Exceptional
Children; the Division on Career Development and Transition, Teacher
Education Division; and the Division on Culturally and Linguistically
Diverse Learners.
Before
coming to AIR, Judy was the Project Director for the National Clearinghouse
for Professions in Special Education (NCPSE) at the Council for
Exceptional Children (CEC). Prior to her role as Project Director,
Judy was the Research Associate at NCPSE for 3 years. In this role,
she conducted demographic research and examined career patterns
of special education and related service professionals with an emphasis
upon cultural and linguistic diversity and education professionals
with disabilities. She has published in areas related to culturally
and linguistically diverse professionals in special education and
special education teacher retention. Judy has experience collecting
data, writing federal grants, and providing outreach services to
information seekers via voice, letter, and electronic communication
mechanisms.
Judy
has a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Florida;
she also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and
a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, both from Syracuse
University. She has worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor in both
the public and private sectors.
